Josh Flagg

Josh was born on the outskirts of Boston. He grew up exploring the woods flipping over logs and rocks looking for salamanders and taking tadpoles home. He took his interest in wildlife to an agricultural high school where he learned to work with domestic hoofstock, reptiles, small parrots, and dog training & grooming. From there, he attended Unity College in rural Maine, where he majored in Captive Wildlife Care & Education with a Psychology Minor. Here he had the opportunity to take and TA for a variety of animal training & behavior classes. Using this experience in wildlife care and behavior, he graduated in 2015 and began work at Squam Lakes Natural Science Center. Here, he was an outdoor educator, and began training their ambassador animals, including native mammals, big and small, and primarily birds of prey. He moved to Florida to work for NEI and continue to learn more about behavior at the beginning of 2022 and has only grown to love a wider variety of birds since then.

Outside of work, he enjoys staying in doing puzzles, playing board games, discovering new music, or going out rock climbing, running, or finding new breweries.
