Katelyn was born and raised in Wooster, Ohio. After graduating from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Wildlife Science, Katelyn began an internship at the Akron Zoo. This internship allowed her to gain experience with the wide variety of animals in their education collection through daily enrichment and training. Following her time at the Akron Zoo, Katelyn relocated to Pittsburgh, PA, and began working as a show intern at the National Aviary. During this internship, she discovered her passion to work with birds while getting hands on experience in the production of their bird show.
In March of 2014, Katelyn relocated to Florida after accepting a seasonal position at NEI’s ranch facility. And in August of 2014, she was thrilled to join the NEI team as full time trainer. Since then, she has been a part of several show productions at the Brookfield Zoo in Chicago (Festival of Flight), the Indianapolis Zoo (Magnificent Macaws), and several of NEI’s Orlando-area shows including her current role at Winged Encounters.
